Making Appointments
1. You must be enrolled in English 53 WAC to make appointments. If you are dropped for non-payment, you will not be able to make further appointments until you are reinstated. If you must petition to enroll in WAC, you will be able to make appointments.
2. You may make your first appointment during the orientation. If you come to that appointment, you may make further appointments in advance, with a maximum one appointment per week.
3. In addition, you can take same-day appointments. You are limited to one same-day appointment per day and a total of two same-day appointments per week. Please call after 9:00pm to request a same-day appointment for the next day.
4. You can make an appointment with the clerk, or call us at 484-8802, from 8:00am to 7:00pm Monday through Thursday and 8:00am through 2:00pm Friday.
5. You may have one one-hour appointment during the semester.
Cancellations and No Shows
1. To cancel an appointment, you must drop by or call 484-8802 at least 2 hours in advance. An appointment cancelled less than two hours in advance will be considered a No Show. You may cancel by phone 24 hours a day (we have a time/date stamp on our voice mail).
NOTE: WE ARE SERIOUS ABOUT THE NO SHOW POLICY. Other students might be turned away while an instructor is waiting for you to show up.
2. Should you accumulate 2 No-Shows, all your remaining appointments will be cancelled, and you will not be allowed to make future appointments, although you will be allowed to make same-day appointments and visit our drop-in lab. A No Show for a one-hour appointment will count as two No Shows. For each No Show, 30 minutes will be deducted from your total for credit.
3. If you have nothing to work on, please cancel your appointment (at least 2 hours in advance). If you come to an appointment with nothing to work on, the instructor, at his or her discretion, may consider this to be a No Show. You are encouraged to use the time creatively by bringing papers with instructor comments to discuss.
