Stanford Invitational

MARCH 27/28, 2009

“Just to make it into this meet as freshman or a sophomore is a huge accomplishment. Our ARC ladies did a tremendous job at the meet and turned a lot of heads in our direction. There were several 4 year schools watching and talking to our ARC coaches about the future path of these ladies”, says Coach Powless.

No surprise the top performance was turned in by Angelica Earls who made it through 4 heats of the 100 and qualified into the final with her 12.13. She ended up 6th in that event  and went on to place 9th in the 4X100 with teammates Jazmin White, Brittney Chambers and Kristen Scott (48.08).

Kristen Scott then led her 4X400 teammates with her 57.13, 400 split along with teammates Brittney Chambers (58.9), Jazmin White (58.5) and Angelica Earls (57.7). Their 8th place finish was a new season best mark of 3:52.38.  Currently that is the 4th best mark in the history of ARC.

Ashley Frazier also hit a season best mark in the 400 hurdles with her 63.82, good enough for 10th position overall in this prestigious meet.

“With all of these ladies being freshmen (except Jazmin White), we have so much more to look forward to, for both the rest of the season and for next years meet back here at the Stanford Invitational”, replies Coach Powless.

Next up is our last home meet of the season this Fri. April 4th as we host the American River College Invitational with more than 15 community college and 4 year schools expected to compete.
