Jiayi works in the area of mixed media installation, digital art and painting, with a strong understanding of the foundation fundamentals in art.
As an artist who is actively working and exhibiting internationally, she is particularly sensitive to contemporary issues surrounding the postmodern world. Jiayi began her art career as a Chinese traditional painter with an interest in its philosophies and history. Her experience of coming to the United States as a teenager has an added meaning to her art making process.
In addition to her MFA in multimedia, she also holds a Master of Science in Atomic Physics. With this strong science background, she is able to explore and utilize the new means of artistic expression through digital media. Having worked and taught in both university and corporate environments, she found teaching to be especially stimulating and rewarding, as the experience always manages to challenge her thoughts and beliefs, at the same time broaden her horizons.
